Being a petite model in an industry who only accepts 5’8 and above becomes extremely challenging for those under the height requirement. Model Nina Jade reminds us that being petite is something to be embraced in modeling too. She shows us with perseverance you can overcome the challenges.
“Being a petite model in an industry that has taken many years to adapt to change has been a challenge. You have to just keep reminding yourself why you’re doing this and what your end goal is,” Jade says.
Models similar to Nina Jade can achieve their end goals and provide a positive message to all young girls out there that you are nothing short of beautiful.
“I’m only 5’2 so being tall isn’t the key to being a model. It is more about being able to morph yourself into a character and that requires creativity, ambition and talent. There is more to modeling than being a unique beautiful face,” Jade says.
I believe she shows us that no matter what your height is if you want a career in the modeling industry all it takes is perseverance and a strong will. Nina and models similar to Nina will inspire others throughout their career as models in the modeling industry. Especially being a petite model she can break the mold that tall isn't the only height that is beautiful. Have a set goal and choose a niche that will make you stand out. Whereas before you would not get the job if you had a mark on your face because you had to be the most gorgeous, or as a model you were too short, you weren’t skinny enough, you had acne. Thankfully those rules are becoming not as important now. The rules about height requirements and body image are bending now creating a better image for the young girls who look at the photoshopped magazines. This movement in modeling has become extremely important because of the change that it brings. Models are constantly pressured to fill a requirement. Thankfully due to models like Nina Jade height is not a determining factor into if you can make it into the modeling industry.
